Use your digital images to create trading cards, movie posters, magazine covers, puzzles, and more at Big Huge Labs. At right is a trading card of the Minnesota State Capitol, which could be used when doing a unit on Minnesota. I also saw in one of my feeds that a class created trading cards for the National Parks.

Edublog Awards

The 2008 Edublog Awards, the annual event where the best education blogs of the year are decided, have been presented. I already had some of these blogs in my aggregator.

I will be adding Free Technology for Teachers, which has reviews of free technology resources and how teachers can use them, to my reader.

The Networked Student

This video was mentioned multiple times in my feeds. It makes me think about my PLN (Personal Learning Network) as a student and students' PLNs.

TIES 2008 Conference

I attended the TIES Conference about a month ago. Web 2.0 seemed to be a big focus at the conference. I was familiar with a lot of things, because of what we have covered in E2T2.

One session that I attended was on Google Earth. The presenter Glenn Wiebe talked about how Google Earth can be used to improve learning. He demonstrated how you can overlay images and maps by showing Nagasaki before and after. He also showed us real-time earthquakes from USGS, a Cezanne art tour, and a math lesson where students used maps of Las Vegas to count cars and to make predictions from live traffic cams. November Meeting

I really enjoyed the presentations by the E2T2 cohorts. It is nice to hear how others are integrating technology into their curriculum.

Mike's digital storytelling presentation was great.We learned about 50 Storytools at CogDogRoo. I had time to play around with Animoto a bit.

Molly's presentation on Google applications was great. I had used Google Docs for one of my grad classes. Instead of meeting face to face, we met online on Meebo and edited the Google Doc for our presentation at the same time.

We also explored some Nings. I now belong to the following Nings: Classroom 2.0, NEMEN, 23 Things on a Stick, and MEMO.

Google Earth and history tours

I had a teacher ask me before our November meeting about using Google maps or Google Earth to show important places during the Revolutionary War. I was so glad that we learned more about Google products at our November meeting. I downloaded Google Earth and found a Revolutionary War history tour and other history tours. The teacher is going to use it with his class and is considering using some of the other history tours.
